FUELITE

Description

Fuelite is a water-white, medium-cut aliphatic petroleum solvent and fuel, composed of approximately 90% saturated hydrocarbons (C5-C10) and 10% naphthenes and substituted monoaromatics (C6-C10). It evaporates quickly, is non-corrosive, chemically stable, and features a mild odor with very low aromatic content. Due to these characteristics, Fuelite is a versatile product used in a range of industries for various applications, including as a clean-burning fuel and solvent.

Common Uses

  1. Lighting, Cooking, and Heating Fuel: it is often used as a fuel for camp stoves, blow lamps, and mining lamps.
  2. Metal Cleaner: It effectively removes grease and oil from metal surfaces.
  3. Workshop Degreaser: serves as a reliable degreaser for cleaning engines and machinery.
  4. Brake Cleaner: It is commonly used for cleaning brakes due to its fast evaporation and cleaning power.
  5. Cigarette Lighter Fluid: Due to its clean-burning properties, it is used as lighter fluid.
  6. Adhesive Remover: efficiently removes adhesives and other sticky residues from surfaces.
  7. Spot Cleaning Solvent: It’s used in various cleaning tasks, particularly for spot cleaning.

Industrial Uses

  1. Rubber Industry: Fuelite is utilized as a rubber solvent in tire building adhesives and as an activator of uncured rubber surfaces in the tire-building process.
  2. Surface Coatings Industry: It is a component in fast-drying alkyd paints, including road-marking paints.
  3. Textile Industry: Fuelite is used in the preparation of fast-drying printing inks for textiles.
  4. Adhesives: Its quick evaporation makes it a valuable ingredient in adhesive formulations.
  5. Tyre Shine Products: Fuelite is an ingredient in these products due to its solvency, fast evaporation, and low odor.
  6. Brake Cleaners: It serves as a safer, more economical alternative to traditional brake cleaners.
  7. Lacquer Thinners: Fuelite is used in combination with other solvents for nitrocellulose lacquer formulations.

Miscellaneous Information

  • Fuelite is sometimes incorrectly referred to as White Spirits or Pegasol AA, Pegasol 1425, or X55.
  • It has a low octane rating (65) and is not recommended for use in internal combustion engines.
